PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)

Human blood consists of many elements, such as plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. Plasma is a primary component found in blood. First, blood is drawn from the patient. Through a process called centrifugation, the platelets are separated from the other blood cells, which then increases the platelet concentration within the plasma. This newly formed platelet rich plasma is then injected into the specific treatment area, so your skin starts regenerating collagen and elastic fibers more efficiently. Vascular Endothelial Growth Factors (VEGF) are one of the most important PRP components which functions to increase blood flow, oxygenation leading to increased collagen growth, tissue healing, and skin regeneration. The use of a patient’s own blood eliminates any allergic reactions associated with blood transfusions. These platelets aid in the body's ability to heal damaged tissue and promote new cell growth because they contain hundreds of natural growth factors. PRP is an advanced anti-aging and healing treatment.

How Does It Work?

Plasma-rich plasma consists of two elements: plasma, or the liquid portion of blood, and platelet, a type of blood cell that plays an important role in healing throughout the body. Platelets are well-known for their clotting abilities, but they also contain growth factors that can trigger cell reproduction and stimulate tissue regeneration or healing in the treated area. Platelet-rich plasma is simply blood that contains more platelets than normal. To create platelet-rich plasma, clinicians take a blood sample from the patient and place it into a device called a centrifuge that rapidly spins the sample, separating out the other components of the blood from the platelets and concentrating them within the plasma.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does PRP do for me?
Stimulate Collagen Production
Vitamin C is an antioxidant, meaning it defends your skin from free radicals that can harm your skin. With regular use, vitamin C can help heal blemishes, reduce hyperpigmentation, and keep your skin from sagging. To maintain a bright, even- toned, refreshed look, we recommend adding vitamin C to your skincare routine.

Plump Sagging Skin
Plasma-rich therapy treatment can dramatically reverse years of skin damage. By penetrating deep into the dermis to stimulate collagen production and connective tissue regeneration, skin will tighten and appear more lifted post-treatment. At, One Clinic MD we often recommend combining platelet-rich plasma therapy with other treatments for the added results. Plasma-rich therapy combined with Morpheus 8, microneedling can improve scar depth and skin texture.

Diminish Acne Scars
Many people between the ages of 18 to 30 struggle with acne. If you are looking to alleviate the damage caused by acne, consider PRP acne scar injections. These injections contain a concentration of platelets, growth factors, stem cells, and other components which initiate neocollagenesis – the process of forming new collagen. By inserting the PRP serum under the scars, it can reduce skin depressions and stimulate new collagen production.

Improve Hair Health & Volume
Hair loss affects many male and females. Platelet-rich plasma can accelerate healing in many areas of the body, including hair follicles. Our physicians utilize this treatment to reduce hair loss and increase the diameter of hairs and the density of hair growth.
What is recovery like?
There is no recovery time following a PRP appointment. You may feel a mild discomfort during and following the procedure, but the sensation will dissipate after roughly 3 days. Local anesthesia may be utilized to reduce the soreness, and proper pre-procedure and post-procedure care is necessary.
